Denim Daisies

 Hello! Arnis and I had a wonderful morning together yesterday. After we dropped off Jamie we headed over to Blooms and Berries farm and it was the best!!! We’ve gone to Blooms and Berries for years now and they have several interactive options at the farm. Typically their big spring/early summer event is Strawberry Days, however there was an issue with strawberry crops nation wide this year and so they’ve had to pivot and they have with finesse and grace!  We signed up for their text alerts when there are open field passes for “pick-your-own” for blueberries, blackberries, and potatoes this year. Sunday evening I got an alert for blueberries and immediately signed up for field passes for Arnis and myself for the following morning.  We showed up… Got our buckets… And headed out… To pick the plumpest, juiciest, blueberries.  We also had an option for snap peas, but we ran out of time and so we stuck with a couple of pounds of blueberries and Arnis had a BLAST!!!  Hello, This weekend was all about recovery for us. Jamie had his procedure on Friday and it went AMAZING! His anesthesiologist said this was his best one yet and he keeps asking if he can do it again. 😅 Because this involved cutting out some of his teeth that had come in through his palate as an unfortunate byproduct of having a cleft, he got an early gift from the tooth fairy and so the few hours prior to his procedure he got to go to the store to pick out a toy and distract him since he wasn’t allowed to eat or drink.  We also went walking in the park as part two of distract Jamie and then headed over to the office. He really did so well and was just tired coming home and in snuggle mode. He and I spent a few hours just sitting on the couch with popsicles and Bluey. Then… He was ready to go.  Hello! It’s been a wonderful week! Both boys have enjoyed their time at Cincinnati Zoo Camp and I’ve had the opportunity to do some of my volunteer work with the animal excellence team in person while they were at camp. Grant has also had a lot of positive events at work and we’re so grateful for his team!  Hello, It is a beautiful Thursday, the birds are singing their hearts out, I hear an owl sounding off in the background, and I’m just so grateful for our wonderful life. There are stressors, painful moments, and fears for the world, but right now in this moment I’m happy and content. One thing that has helped me shift my mindset has been working on decluttering our house. As a military family we have moved a LOT. We were also dual active for most of our early careers and so it was unfortunately common to be stationed apart for months and even a year at a time so we needed separate households during those times. That said, we’ve had a lot of things to sort through and declutter. Making a dent in this feels good from a space and visual standpoint, but also from a mental standpoint of formally acknowledging that we are together for good now! 🥰 This week my goal is this one shelf in our basement with a lot of random gadgets and bags. I love that these topics are so fun and just make me happy to brainstorm on each month! 🥰 The topic for this month is our Travel Bucket Lists! I’m really excited about this one as I love the focus on experiences and, while our current season of life is a little closer to home, there are so many wonderful places in the world to see for our “Someday List” as Kendra Adachi refers to it. 🥰 So here’s my current list: 1. Queensland Australia - I am low key obsessed with Australia and the laid back but still productive and down-to-earth culture. Visiting Brisbane, Australia Zoo, and getting some surfing in would be an ultimate bucket list trip! 2. Kenya - I would love to visit some of the places my dad grew up in though most of those are still in active conflict and so Kenya would be a chance to see the area safe...

 Hello, We have spent some extra time at my parents house (they have a full play gym in their basement) with all this rain and Teddy has even been able to go!  His take on this, however, is that the treats could be more flavorful, but the beds are comfy.  Hello, We are so excited for this week! The boys are both in their favorite camp and they’ve asked about going for months now. Grant also has some fun events at work which will be a pleasant distraction.  All this excitement meant that we wanted to do something relatively low key but still fun on Saturday and so we took them up for a picnic and playground fun at Devou’s scenic overlook. It was absolutely magical just watching them enjoy the view and one of those times when we just held hands and basked in a perfect afternoon.  Hello, I’m very pleased to say that the week off to wrap up some other commitments was just what I needed. I’m really excited to get back on board with the daily blog and grateful that I’m finally learning when to take a break before I get too overwhelmed! Today’s gratitude is just that, I’m grateful for maturing and learning how to prioritize my own peace. My amazing spouse and bestie have helped me with this. Listening to more minimalism podcasts than I can count help with this. And just growing and maturing have given me the courage to do what is right for me regardless of societal expectations and pressures.  I hope that you have a wonderful day and I’ll see you back here tomorrow! 💛Jessie
