Minimalist Packing List for the Lake

 Hello,

I’ve done a lot of work over the past year decluttering and simplifying our home. It had wonderful effects on our quality of life and so I decided to test the theory when it came to packing as well.

Granted this visit was to my parents home in New England and so I knew that I’d have access to a washer/ dryer and that my mother and I use the same skincare products and sunscreen so I’d be able to use some of hers while we were here. Originally the plan was to drive up and fly back with the kids as Sulev would have to drive home earlier for work, but things changed and it made more sense to drive back so avoiding packing any large liquid/cream containers ended up being unnecessary.

Where we are here the main activities are water sports and hiking so I focused our outfits on those adventures.

Packing List:

1 x pair of sweat pants (I use these often for pajamas as well because it gets pretty cold up here at night) - also great for travel days

1 x pair hiking pants

1 x pair athletic shorts - I wear these for water sports as well when I’m with the kids

1 x pair nice shorts

1 x skirt (casual)

1 x athletic shirt - I use this a lot for the water as well

2 x t shirts (plain and easily interchangeable with each outfit)

1 x tank top

1 x swim suit

2 x hiking socks

4 x underwear/bras

1 x hiking boots

1 x sandals

1 x water shoes

1 x quarter zip sweatshirt

1x toiletry kit (toothbrush/razor/hair clips/headband/brush/mascara/tinted chapstick)

1 x purse with my regular stuff in it

1 x tablet/computer

1 x kindle

1 x Bible

1 x large water bottle

All of this fits into a small weekender bag and my purse backpack which is very helpful for packing into the car or organizing at the airport.

The only thing I would change would be to not bother with the skirt or swim suit as I didn’t need either from just wearing my running clothes in the water and I would pack a pair of jeans as it’s gotten pretty chilly at night and on rainy days.

The amount of clothes was very much sufficient though and we will definitely use this approach again.

That’s all for today,

💛Jessie
