Friday Favorites May week 4… on a Saturday

 Hello,

This week has been a bit of a busy one and so the past couple of days that extra ten minutes of sleep won out over blogging. I’m happy to report though that we have officially started summer break and we are READY! I’ve decluttered a few items on my schedule that were adding stress instead of joy so I am fully embracing my priorities this summer of spending time with my boys! 🥰

Here we go with some favorites from this week! 🙂

1. Swimming in the backyard!
Last weekend was significantly warmer so we took full advantage of having the pool set up and the boys LOVE it! It’s a ten foot diameter and about two feet deep so it’s big enough to paddle. But small enough to fit in our city backyard! 🙂
2. Jamie refusing to come in.
He’s getting really into picnics and camping which I love. This means that he spent pretty much the entire day outside including when I tried to offer him a little tablet time to come in and cool off and he took the tablet but managed to sneak right back out. 🥹
3. Book donation
I did an entire post about this but we donated about a truckload of books that we’ve carried for nearly 13 years. Most of these we haven’t read in a decade and so, while we still have a small library, these ones seemed more appropriate to go to our public library to get some use. The vine street location takes large donations on Wednesdays from 10-2 and the people there were so kind. They had me pull right up to the loading bay and helped Arnis and I unload so it only took a few minutes and now all those books will go into circulation rather than sitting on our duty bookshelves! 💛
4. Jamie drawing
He is getting very into art lately and even bringing Arnis along for the e ride. It’s so cool to watch him learn more about this and spend an hour focused and engaged in drawing anything that comes to mind!
5. Hiking
Arnis went on a short hike with me while Jamie was in school and we found this little guy. We moved him a little off the trail to avoid any puppies who might think he was a toy but it was so cool to see!
6. Teddy and Arnis
Teddy is slowly switching his loyalty from me to Arnis and it’s so sweet to watch them cuddle together and Arnis showing Teddy how to play “Donkey Honk”. 🥹 Especially as it rained nearly the entire week and the temps dropped about 50 degrees.  🥶 
7. Jamie’s last day of school 
I did a post celebrating Arnis’s preschool graduation but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Jamie’s last day as well. All the parents in his class came in and his teachers threw the most beautiful little part for everyone. It was so sweet and absolutely magical. 
8. Summer lunches
I think I might be into something for summer lunches and Friday was the first trial day. Arnis gets two eggs with avocado muffin and Tajin. Jamie gets two plant based tenders with some sweet potato fries, berries, and ketchup. 
They ate everything which felt great and it was good growing food! 🥰
9. Arnis had decided he like to vacuum 
Need I say more?!? Winning!!! 🏆

 Hello! This has been quite the week, but there is so much to be grateful for. It’s going to get a bit deep and frankly I need to not process a lot for a little while and just focus on gratitude so that I can deal with the grief in my own way and time. Let’s Look: How we work on our marriage

 Hello, I’m joining the party again this month, a big thank you to Shay from Mix and Match Mama  and Erika from A Little Bit of Everything  for setting this up and inviting us to share as well! 🥰 Grant and I are in a season of life that usually has our two little guys along for the ride. That means that we don’t have regular dinner dates or weekends away, but we find time that works in our schedule and season. 💛 1. Wednesday and Thursday Work Commute We are a one car family as we live in a city where parking isn’t always the easiest and we love the fact that it reduces our carbon impact and has the added bonus of allowing us to spend more time together. Grant takes public transportation to work Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, but on Wednesday and Thursday he works from a different location that doesn’t have an obvious route so I drive him between the kids drop off and heading over to the zoo. Let’s Look: Our Wellness Routines

 Hello, I’m linking up again this month to join  Shay from  Mix and Match Mama  and Erika from  A Little Bit of Everything ’s link party for “Let’s Look”. I love that these topics are a glimpse into our normal, everyday life and it’ll be so much fun to look back years from now and remember what we were up to! My wellness routine these days is a lot less singularly focused on sprints or gym time and a lot more of a holistic approach so here we go!  Mind 1. I do a lesson of Duolingo Spanish every evening as part of my quiet time to keep this skill up. I’ve always loved learning languages and even tested in the Army as having a strong aptitude for this, this feels right to me. (I already speak French and my Arabic is still there albeit a little rusty, but if I want to ever do sea turtle conservation work I feel like Spanish might be the way to go. 🙂) 2.
