Decluttering Progress
Hello,
I’m working on decluttering our house, wardrobes, randomness that we acquired after 11 moves and various periods of time having to maintain multiple households for work.
I’m really proud of the progress that I’ve made thus far in downsizing my closet, keeping up with the kids ever changing sizes, and working my way through the different junk drawers and boxes that we hadn’t sorted in multiple moves.
My current projects outside of the “maintain” phase is books. Sulev and I are both book lovers and avid readers, however this doesn’t mean that we need to keep every book we’ve ever touched. This is especially true when a lot of those books are old military school workbooks, textbooks from my mother’s masters program, or random journals and interactive things that my parents saved from my ten year old self.
My goal is to get through these by the end of may and donate what I can to the library and recycle the rest.
An added benefit from focusing so much on decluttering is that I think more about what I’m ready to part ways with now than the next thing to acquire. This doesn’t mean that we don’t still make purchases, I’ll need new hiking shoes in the next couple of months and we just had to get the boys some new pants and shirts as they’ve outgrown a LOT. It does mean though that these purchases are thought out, intentional, and much less frequent. It also means that keeping our house clean has become significantly easier and the boys play with what they have more.
That’s all for today, more of a seasonal ramble.
Also I’m feeling very self conscious about the fact that I have misspelled quite a few things lately including Sheaffer’s name from the link party yesterday. I apologize profusely. I hate that about myself and I never want to be rude to someone because of a mistake I made.
That’s all for today, have a wonderful day!
💛Jessie
