Things that are helping me this Spring

 Hello,

Spring seems to have finally found it’s footing after today, at least if you trust the weather forecast. So I wanted to list out some of the things from the past month or so that have allowed us to find joy in this season.

1. Mini-hikes

Since I was cleared to workout I’ve taken my time to slowly build my stamina. My favorite workout has always been going on hikes so I’ve used the trail system surrounding Ault Park to start building my endurance. At first this is just the hiking part of it, but I’ll start building in a weighted vest and even a ruck as time goes on.

2. Our Backyard

After school the boys, Jamie especially, need to have a little quiet free play. Our backyard has provided the perfect setting for this lately, excepting the days that we had torrential downpours. It’s been great to just spend that time with them outside and soak in as much vitamin D as possible.

3. Afternoon Coffee

Lately I’ve switched my one cup of coffee a day to the afternoons. I just get too anxious in the morning so lavender and lemon tea with honey is my new “go to”. Afternoons, however, I noticed that I needed a boost and so an iced or regular latte has been the perfect fit while the boys have their free play. It gives me a second wind to get through homework with them and another round of household chores with a smile on my face. 😉

4. Owning my season

I’ve finally made a large dent in decluttering more of my business casual wardrobe from when I worked corporate. It’s just clothes that I don’t need anymore and so I kept a couple of the more versatile pieces and donated or sold the rest. I did end up buying a couple of more casual, hiking-style, shirts that I’ve had my eye on for months now and so these fit both my aspirational and my current needs for clothing.

Jamie loves a good “try on” and so I imagine that there will be many more of these accompanied photos while I develop my style for this season of life. (Hopefully it will be a long one because there is so much good in this beautiful time with my kids, wildlife research, and focusing on what matters to our family.)

5. Drawing

I am not a drawer, it’s never been my thing. Thankfully the boys have taken after Sulev and both of them really enjoy spending time just sitting and imagining and drawing. It’s a heart warming thing to observe and it has brought a lot of calm to our lives. 🥰

Have a wonderful day!

💛Jessie
