Sulev James turns 7

Hello,



This post is all about my favorite 7?!?!?!?!?! (How is he already 7) year old. Jamie is the sweetest guy that you'll meet and is filled with laughter, mechanical skills (seriously how did that happen???), and the kindest heart. I am so proud to get to be his mom. In honor of his 7th birthday, here are seven things about Jamie:

1. His favorite food is oranges.

2. He LOVES to swim and play tennis, especially with Coach George!

3. He's an animal lover with his favorite shows as Wild Kratts, Creature Cases, Blue Planet, and of course Baby Shark.

4. He is everyone's biggest cheerleader and every teacher at his school tries to go out of their way to see him in the morning because of his energetic and enthusiastic greetings, "Mrs. Merk!!!! I'm so happy to see you!!!!"

5. He likes fruit, though he's not really into deserts and will choose a savory snack all day.

6. He can make is own sandwiches or replace a doorknob by himself... ask how we found that out. :-)

7. He is the most empathetic and kind little guy who just wants to be there for everyone, he's walked a different road than most, but he's met every challenge with a true zest for life that inspires everyone around him.

Great Grandma Sepp was probably the most excited person to meet him (we all were truly, but she was bragging to all her friends that she was a Great Grandma!).

His first surgery he took like a champ and we even got to go home the next day because he was so tough... and eating so well! ;-)

We had to have a lot of special hats for him to avoid him trying to eat his hearing aids... so we of course took full advantage of the seasonal options.

It was a really busy first year and life continues to be a little more on the busy side, but we wouldn't have it any other way as you are the happiest guy in the world!

 Hello! This has been quite the week, but there is so much to be grateful for. Let’s Look: How we work on our marriage

 Hello, I’m joining the party again this month, a big thank you to Shay from Mix and Match Mama  and Erika from A Little Bit of Everything  for setting this up and inviting us to share as well! 🥰 Grant and I are in a season of life that usually has our two little guys along for the ride. That means that we don’t have regular dinner dates or weekends away, but we find time that works in our schedule and season. 💛 1. Wednesday and Thursday Work Commute We are a one car family as we live in a city where parking isn’t always the easiest and we love the fact that it reduces our carbon impact and has the added bonus of allowing us to spend more time together. Grant takes public transportation to work Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, but on Wednesday and Thursday he works from a different location that doesn’t have an obvious route so I drive him between the kids drop off and heading over to the zoo. Let’s Look: Our Wellness Routines

 Hello, I’m linking up again this month to join  Shay from  Mix and Match Mama  and Erika from  A Little Bit of Everything ’s link party for “Let’s Look”. I love that these topics are a glimpse into our normal, everyday life and it’ll be so much fun to look back years from now and remember what we were up to! My wellness routine these days is a lot less singularly focused on sprints or gym time and a lot more of a holistic approach so here we go!  Mind 1. I do a lesson of Duolingo Spanish every evening as part of my quiet time to keep this skill up. I’ve always loved learning languages and even tested in the Army as having a strong aptitude for this, this feels right to me. (I already speak French and my Arabic is still there albeit a little rusty, but if I want to ever do sea turtle conservation work I feel like Spanish might be the way to go. 🙂) 2.
