Five Spring Things

 Good morning,

Instead of Teddy’s take today I’m going to give my top five things I look forward to about spring. It is really cold and our area is pretty flooded though we are more fortunate than many to be on high ground. So basically I want to remember what I love about spring.

1. Flowers and Colorful Vegetation

I love seeing all the different flowers, tree buds, just everything wake up with those beautiful delicate spring colors. It’s absolutely gorgeous and feels so fresh. Speaking of fresh…

2. The smell of water

Spring always smells like fresh water to me. It’s the same smell that I experienced landing in Ramstein after leaving Kabul and it just feels and smells so light and fresh. It’s like the smell of new beginnings.

3. The end of school

We are so close to the end of school for the kids and it feels like there is a light for this tunnel. I’m excited to create new schedules for our summer routine and to spend so much time just playing in our backyard this year. Which is funny because…

4. Getting outside

It is so cold, but the afternoons are nice enough for the boys to spend some time outside playing together which is so fun to witness. We have a new privacy fence going in on the last side of our yard soon. I’m sad that it means it will be a little harder for them to play with their backyard neighbor but happy that it will be a little more secure and that Teddy can be out as much as he wants.

5. Lemon flavors

I love lemon in pretty much everything so springtime is a great time to cook and bake for me. I made a lemon and blueberry cake for my dad’s birthday yesterday that  was absolutely delicious!

And, of course, shaped like a dinosaur. 😂

That’s all for today. What are your top five?

💛Jessie
