Things that are bringing me peace

 Hello,

It feels like a lot of people are particularly stressed this week, I don’t know if it is because of the news, the weather, or just something in the air. I’m using this post to codify the things that are bringing me peace right now:

1. Drinking tea instead of coffee

I love coffee, but I was not feeling great for a while after drinking it so I decided to switch to tea and it is making a world of difference. I put a little creamer in still to get that same thicker and less watery feel and I feel so much better.

2. Reading my Bible every day

I am so grateful for these moments of peace, even though many mornings I have Jamie adding commentary, it is so helpful to spend the first part of my day learning about God and trusting Him more every day. I’m especially encouraged that God uses the bad for His GOOD plans.

3. Hans Rosling’s Factfulness

I read this book a couple of years ago and it just helps me to remember that overall the world is getting better. That things is the news are always highlighting the absolute worst parts of the world and events, it gives me modern day evidence of God’s word that though individual things can be bad, the overall plan and trajectory is good. (Also, for click bait, if an article says something like “does this do that?” The answer is most likely no or it would have said “this does that”.)

4. Reading romance books aka chick lit

I’ve been doing this every time I want to doom scroll and it’s a beautiful thing to avoid the “swirl” as I know that I’ll find out when decisions are made and I’ve done as much as I can do in this moment so it’s better to let the anxiety go and focus on things that bring me joy like happy endings. 🥰

5. Simple Happy Zen YouTube videos

I really have enjoyed listening to Vera while I’m working. She is very calming and it also encourages me to give Grace to myself and others as well as avoiding materialistic gain to fill emotional voids.

Honorable mention to my favorite podcast, The Lazy Genius!!! Also another person who brings me clarity during times of stress.

Have a wonderful day filled with Light and Love!

💛Jess
