My “someday” list
Hello!
I love the podcast and books by Kendra Adachi, the Lazy Genius. She is all about productivity but in a loving and gentle way. This is a far cry from my history of posting papers all over my room where I would see them as soon as I woke up saying things like, “make your own luck”, “no regrets”, and “you can push harder”. Those were great for my former Army over achieving self, but they didn’t necessarily lead to happiness. Success in my career, absolutely, having a beautiful home and family, yeah. Happiness and enjoyment of all of this though… not so much.
All that said, my former self was big on goals and the bucket list mentality. Many people review their bucket list and goals at the start of the year. I like this tempo, but I like Kendra’s approach better of a “someday” list instead of a bucket list. Slight change in words and it becomes less “do or die” and less dramatic. Here are the things on my someday list now, this will change, but it’s allowing me to have my dreams AND enjoy the present.
- Finish my CFI to teach
- Go on a turtle tagging trip
- Go on a photo safari in Kenya
- Get a masters in zoology from Queensland university
- Take my family on a disney vacation
- Spend a summer with my family living at our home in Alaska
- Work at a wildlife sanctuary or similar organization where I am a carer
