Book review: Cruel Winter with you by Ali Hazelwood
Hello!
I love silly romance novels. I am a huge fan. The faster I can predict the ending the better and the less anxiety, the happier I am. I especially love the STEM romance genre for promoting women in science as being able to be awesome and human all at once. For so much of us I feel like there’s pressure for either/or and so these novels are crushing those glass ceilings while maintaining balance and it’s outstanding.
Several of these amazing authors got together and decided to do a five book grouping (not related stories but similar novel size and level of steaminess) and I love all of them so far! It’s the mistletoe collection on Amazon and I further love that it’s so accessible digitally so there’s less of a paper impact! 🥰
Ali Hazelwood was the first that I read and, while definitely rated R, it had a really sweet hallmark worthy story about missed high school romance turned into a mature and supportive relationship. Marc and Jamie (the focals) are very relatable in their own duckling turned swan way. Jamie is a pediatric resident from an emotionally unavailable family who grew up near her best friend and best friend’s little brother Marc. Marc was the popular kid who was always in trouble and too smart for his own good that secretly harbored a crush on Jamie for his entire life and finally feels worthy of her now that he is a billionaire tech genius. The concept of getting snowed in with your high school crush once you’re in your late 20s could seem either swoon worthy or a bit cringe. Ali, however nails it and I could not put this book down!
10/10 recommend as a Christmas season must-read!!! (Even better it comes with prime so you might already have access! 😉)
That’s all for today!
