Vermont and Quebec

 Good morning!

Here is my recap from Vermont and Canada! It was such a wonderful trip Ms we look forward to returning!!!

It seems like there are articles everywhere about how crowded Europe is these days. Too many tourists, shoulder to shoulder single file walking through narrow streets, and just frankly not fun because of the crowds. Vermont and Quebec have clearly not gotten this memo because it was so relaxing to be able to experience these beautiful locations with people but not crowds!

This post is going to be mostly a photo recap but essentially everyday we did our morning routine and then went down to the lake, then Grant and I had a mini-date for lunch, then the boys had quiet time, then we headed out on an adventure before returning for bed and dinner.

Road trip! 13 hours of driving and so for the first time we broke it up in two days and that was a win. I still think we’ll fly next time if possible but breaking it up made this so much easier on all of us!

The view from the boys’ room. It’s beyond gorgeous!!!

And clearly inspired some good sleep for Leo! πŸ₯°

Grant and I had a beautiful view of the corn fields across the road. It felt so… classic Vermont and we loved it!

Morning quiet time for me was very picturesque this week! Grant and I also got out on the lake for a morning paddle board workout nearly every day.

Day 1 morning time included finding out that Leo is really good at t-ball!!! 😊

Day 1 date for Grant and I was checking out the Vermont Bake Shop in Alburgh and we recommend this so highly!!!!!

Day 2 had the same morning routine but our afternoon activity was getting the boys literally out of the country and up to Montreal. My dad came and we went on Le Grand Roue which was really cool for the views and then to a creperie, Chez Sussette, where the lovely waiter put up with my rusty French for our orders!

Leo was a little nervous at first but got into it quickly!

Day 3 we went to the Cheese Factory just across the border in Quebec and Jamie seized the moment for a cute photo! πŸ₯°

Day 3 we also got a true dinner date just Grant and I at Kraemer and Ken’s which is a great restaurant and brewery. Again highly recommend!!!

The poutine was chef’s kiss!!!

Day 4 brought us out to the oldest fossil reef in the world in Isle La Motte and the boys always love coming here.

It’s so easy for them to find so many fossils and I heard “Mommy come look!” At least 1,000 times!

So much fun!!!

Day 4 charcuterie from the cheese factory the day before. These cheese were smelly but oh-so-tasty!

And our final swim in the lake. We got some good waves for this last one and so it was the best of the lake and the feeling of the ocean for the boys! 😊

It was a truly spectacular trip and we can’t wait to return next year!!! It also felt good because it’s relatively close and we got the feeling of being in Europe, especially from Montreal, without having to do the transatlantic flight which is just not a reality for the boys at this point. We will likely fly next time to make it easier on the boys for a travel time perspective or rent an electric vehicle to make it an even more carbon friendly trip! πŸ™‚
