Top 5: Summer Activities
Hello!
As part of our regular schedule in the summer I have two hours built into every afternoon for us to do some type of activity. The mornings consist of a short hike in the woods, scootering/jogging, and time at the Y. Early afternoons gives time for rest, lunch, and doing a few chores. Later afternoons means creative time with puzzles, crafts, or baking and then we head out for our activities depending on what day.
In no particular order we are into the following as our 'top' regular summer activities.
1. We Rock the Spectrum Play Gym - this is an indoor play place that is designed for neurodivergent children and neurotypical children to be able to play together. Even if your child is neurotypical you should really check it out, it's a great place with an amazing mission, and has everything fun that active children could need from ziplines to trampolines to a calm room when things get a little too much.
2. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens - this is right next to Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the location makes it so easy for us to go after weekly appointments. We LOVE our zoo!!!!
3. Oakley Sprayground - really any public park in Cincinnati that has a sprayground is going to be a win for us this summer. They always have fences to makes sure that kids don't stray into a parking area/road, it's very interactive, and the sprayground portions are FREE!!! It's been a great way for the kids to have a water day without needing to worry as much about water safety.
4. Cincinnati Museum Center - if you have not gone here, regardless of where you live, you are missing out. The natural history portion is AWESOME with dinosaurs, ice age, caves, really everything kids and adults could want to experience in immersive activities. It also has the Children's Museum which is like a giant indoor playplace with immersive shopping centers, construction, ball/physics area, giant water table, really everything. We've been there countless times and are still finding new things to explore!
5. Biddy and Grandpa's house - my parents have made their basement into a place just for the grandkids and it's got swings, slide, climbing gym, grocery store set-up, hotwheels track, really everything. They also live conveniently near one of the best creamy stands in the region and so we full intend on enjoying this as an option at least once a week! :-)
That's all for today!
