Good News Thursday: Netflix Kids shows featuring conservation and ecological responsibility

 Good Morning!

Both of my kids have about one to two hours of scheduled 'rest' time every day. This is my chance to do some chores that just aren't as safe or feasible with little helpers or frankly take a break myself so that I can remain patient and centered for them.

During this time, they can nap or look through books, we love I Spy, especially with letters or ocean animals, but sometimes when they're a little too excited and really need to be in separate rooms, I'll let Jamie watch a TV show while I'm trying to get Leo to sleep. (Leo just needs a little more than the average bear and while we've weaned off of 14-16 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period, he still needs minimum of 12 to be his happy self.)

I've been pleasantly surprised to find that there are a lot of ecologically responsible kids shows on netflix and so here's a list of our favorites!

5. Izzy's Koala World - this is an 'Irwin Family' style show of a family in Australia that does Koala rehabilitation. They give appropriate disclaimers to prevent 'do it yourselfers' and it's so soothing to watch these injured or orphaned Koala's succeed. It's also great for Jamie that this is coming from another youth and so he gets interested quickly and is able to calm his heartrate.

4. Life on Our Planet - Leo loves this one as well because well... dinosaurs. Jamie loves anything that resembles David Attenborough's documentaries so he's in as well. This is a semi-animated, made to look real series that covers prehistoric to present.

3. Emily's Wonder Lab - not entirely ecology focused, but I'm always happy to support a females in STEM role model and it's got a lot of fun ideas for experiments to do with the kids during their post-quiet time.

2. Magic School Bus Rides Again - yes.. you heard me, this is a thing, it's Ms Frizzles Niece, it's awesome, if you haven't seen it seriously go watch it because it's just as good as the original and I'm in love. Oh and the kids like it too! lol

1. Octonauts - because who doesn't seriously love cute animated animals saving the world from ecological disaster Captain Planet style?!? Unfortunately the main series is off netflix for the foreseeable future, but the spinoffs are still there and we LOVE watching these for family movie nights.

That's all for today!
