Top Five Places in Cincinnati

 Happy Friday!




As promised, here's my top 5 favorite places in Cincinnati, I'd have nice pictures of everything but I'm frankly too tired after a night shift.

Counting down to best:

5. Smale Park with the riverfront trail. We absolutely love this for the views and the GIANT slide for the boys. Scootering is one of the activities that centers both my kids and so we do it a LOT.

4. Cincinnati Museum Center. Set in the old rail terminal, their children's museum and dinosaur exhibits are unparalleled, plus the mining exhibit is super cool. It can get a little crowded and over stimulating because so many people agree it's awesome and therefore didn't get the top spot. 

3. Lunken Airfield. This is a really fun spot with a five mile trail to run/scooter around the airfield. The boys love it because the planes take off and land directly overhead. Only negative is not a lot of options for potty breaks with two little bladders. #sorrytrees

2. Ault Park. WE LOVE THE CREEK!!! The entire park is beautiful and we take family pictures there frequently (thanks Dad!), but the creek with the trails around it is where it's at. A little road noise, but you almost feel as though you're completely out of everything while getting a wonderful nature bath. The perfect place to go for 15 min or 3 hours for our hiking loving family.

1. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. The animal experiences, the gardens throughout, the amazing inclusivity, and the commitment to sustainability. Is it a wonder that this is my happy place and I volunteer regularly with several of their teams. I love it and it's always voted at or near the top zoos in the country and even the world!

*honorable mention - Bender Mountain. There's not a lot of hiking around Cincy, but this is about as good as you get for an easy, but still topographically challenging hike! 💛

Good News Thursday: Netflix Kids shows featuring conservation and ecological responsibility

 Good Morning! Both of my kids have about one to two hours of scheduled 'rest' time every day. This is my chance to do some chores that just aren't as safe or feasible with little helpers or frankly take a break myself so that I can remain patient and centered for them.  During this time, they can nap or look through books, we love I Spy, especially with letters or ocean animals, but sometimes when they're a little too excited and really need to be in separate rooms, I'll let Jamie watch a TV show while I'm trying to get Leo to sleep. (Leo just needs a little more than the average bear and while we've weaned off of 14-16 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period, he still needs minimum of 12 to be his happy self.) I've been pleasantly surprised to find that there are a lot of ecologically responsible kids shows on netflix and so here's a list of our favorites! 5.
