Happy Birthday Jane!

In case you missed it, Jane Goodall, celebrated her 90th year on Earth on April 3rd!

Jane's work in wildlife conservation and activism has made her a household name for decades and her institution, through its Roots and Shoots program to inspire young minds, will continue to do so for decades after she departs.

Just about every news organization did a special on her 90th and the link below is to the Forbes article that highlights one of the brands that she has formally partnered with as a fundraising campaign for this milestone birthday. Brilliant Earth has already donated $100,000 to her institution and has a collection premiering later this year as a partnership with Jane. If you are looking for a new family heirloom, you should check out their sustainable collection. (Again, I'm not sponsored by anyone, just a fan 😊) Forbes Article on Jane Goodall 90th Birthday

In honor of her birthday here are five facts about Jane from reading her books on Hope (I've included the amazon link above, though I checked this out as an ebook from Cincinnati Public Library when I read it):

1. Jane loves Whiskey - she has a small glass of, usually, Johnny Walker, nearly every night as her evening ritual.

2. Jane started her life's work at 26 without any formal degree or training in STEM.

3. Jane has one son and three grandchildren.

4. Jane has a home in Tanzania, but still lives with her sister in their childhood home in England where she still goes to the very tree that she climbed as a little girl.

5. Jane's favorite childhood book was Tarzan where she, 'believes he married the wrong Jane'.

* Bonus Fact - Jane Goodall is on good terms with Thayne Maynard of the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens and has written the forwards for some of his books and had him contribute to several of hers!

Overall, her message is still one of work to be done, still one of positivity for all the good we can do to make up for some of the bad, and still one of HOPE.

Thank you Jane for all that you have and continue to give us and have the happiest birthday!!!!!

Wishing you Happiness!

Jess
